ประชาไท - 9 มี.ค.50 นักวิชาการในต่างประเทศร่วมกันทำจดหมายเปิดผนึกรวบรวมรายชื่อเรียกร้องให้ศูนย์หนังสือจุฬาฯ กลับการตัดสินใจที่ไม่ยอมวางขายหนังสือ 2 เล่ม คือ  A coup for the Rich ของ รศ.ใจ อึ๊งภากรณ์ อาจารย์ประจำคณะรัฐศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และหนังสือของสำนักพิมพ์ฟ้าเดียวกันฉบับพิเศษเรื่อง "รัฐประหาร 19 กันยา รัฐประหารเพื่อระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงเป็นประมุข"

อย่างไรก็ตาม หนังสือเล่มหลังนี้ ธนาพล อิ๋วสกุล บรรณาธิการสำนักพิมพ์ฟ้าเดียวกันระบุว่า ทางศูนย์หนังสือยอมวางขายแล้วแต่ไม่ตั้งโชว์บนชั้น

นักวิชาการกลุ่มดังกล่าวเชื่อว่าการตัดสินใจเช่นนี้จะเป็นการสร้างระบบ "เซ็นเซอร์ตัวเอง" ในวงวิชาการ และเป็นการละเมิดเสรีภาพทางวิชาการ จดหมายยังนี้ได้ส่งถึงศูนย์หนังสือจุฬาฯ และอธิการบดีของจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยด้วย

ขณะเดียวกัน รศ.ใจ ให้ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมว่า ในส่วนของศูนย์หนังสือมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ที่ก่อนหน้านี้ก็ไม่วางขายหนังสือของเขาเช่นเดียวกันนั้น ล่าสุด นายสุรพล นิติไกรพจน์ อธิการบดีได้มีคำสั่งให้ศูนย์หนังสือวางขายหนังสือเล่มดังกล่าวแล้ว พร้อมกำชับว่ามหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ต้องเป็นผู้นำเรื่องเสรีภาพทางวิชาการ ขณะที่ร้านหนังสือเอเชียบุ๊กส์ยังคงไม่วางขายหนังสือ A Coup for the Rich ต่อไป
