Police have arrested three people in the north of Thailand for distributing flyers deemed as incitement and transferred them to the military which is detaining them incommunicado.
On 22 November 2016, Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, the Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, said that police have arrested three people from Chiang Mai province for distributing documents against the ruling junta. The three are currently detained by the military, reported Khaosod.
According to Srivara, the three are Sakda Sakunphanarak, his wife and another young woman. No official charge has been filed but the authorities have ‘invited’ them for interrogation. Once enough evidence is collected, they will be charged under Article 116 of the Criminal Code, the sedition law.
The deputy police chief refused to reveal the place of detention, saying it is the military’s business. The officers are investigating if there are other people conspiring with the three.
