Somyot denied bail for 13th time
Somyot Prueksakasemsuk’s request for bail was dismissed by the Appeals Court on 25 Jan, said his wife Sukanya after she went to the Criminal Court on 4 Feb.
The bail request was submitted to the court immediately after the verdict was delivered on 23 Jan, she said.
The Appeals Court said in its dismissal that, consideration of the nature of the offences and evidence presented to the Court of First Instance showed that the case ‘was serious and affected the feelings and good morals of the public’, and also that the defendant might flee if granted a temporary release, considering the fact that the Court of First Instance had sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

‘was serious ... ' Was
Was absolutely not serious.
The work of the treasonous mutineers, overthrowing the the elected government on 19 September 2006 ... that was serious.
The work of the Royal Thai Army under orders from Abhisit and Suthep, and under the command of the generals of the Royal Thai Army that resulted in the deaths of some 90 Thais in April and May 2010 ... that was serious.
Yet the people responsible for the overthrow of the government, the abeyance of the Constitution, the deaths of innocent Thais walk the streets ... sit in the Parliament!
But Somyos cannot be bailed on appeal. Shame! Shame! Shame!
And it the feeling of any of you ... members of the public .. are not affected ... you will join Somyot in prison! and you understand that very well, don't you!
And to top it off they spit in the man's eye! That's the only way to describe that last scurrilous outrage.
Ten years in prison for another man's ... speech!
