Pravit Rojanaphruk accused of lèse majesté for Prachatai articles

A yellow shirt in Roi Et has filed a lèse majesté complaint against Nation reporter Pravit Rojanaphruk, for his contributions to Prachatai. 

On 16 May, Pol Lt Matee Sriwana, an investigator at Roi Et Police Station in northeastern Thailand, sent an e-mail to Prachatai, asking for information about Pravit’s Thai-language articles published by Prachatai.

According to the investigator’s e-mail, on 28 Dec 2011 Wiput Sukprasert filed a complaint against Pravit for 7 of his Thai-language articles, including:

Society where everybody has to think and say the same thing is not a society (สังคมที่ทุกคนต้องคิดและพูดเหมือนกัน มิใช่สังคม);

Tranquilizer society (สังคมยากล่อมประสาท);

The problem of goodness of ‘Good people’ (ปัญหาความดีของ "คนดี");

Depressing condition of the media (สถานการณ์ที่หม่นหมองของสื่อมวลชน);

@PravitR: This tweet is for Akong (@PravitR: ทวีตนี้แด่อากง SMS);

The power of comparing kings as ‘the father’ of the people (พลานุภาพการเปรียบกษัตริย์เป็น “พ่อ” ของประชาชน);

Section 112 (of the Criminal Code) and censorship of information about the monarchy (ม.112 กับการเซ็นเซอร์ข้อมูลต่างเกี่ยวกับสถาบันกษัตริย์).

In addition to asking for basic information about the articles, the investigator also asked Prachatai to delete them.

So far, Wiput, using the cyber alias of I PAD, has filed lèse majesté complaints against 15 Prachatai contributors and readers who posted comments on the website, as well as the Prachatai editor and webmaster.

The charge is equivalent to the conviction. It's just a long, long winding road. Pravit will probably be bailed. He is not connectionless as are Daranee, Amphon, Somyos, Surachai ... all the rest.

I wonder if The Nation will even report it, or just quietly 'let him go'. Bet there will be not a word from Puea Thai.

The papers will be full of their Majesties' trip to Ayutthaya. To relive the inauguration of the flooding of farmland for the 'greater good' of Bangkok, as a 'flood prevention' policy. Now, with half of Phichit slated for sacrifice, they feel the need to give their policy the invulnerability of association with their Majesties.

To criticise the policy ... or the policy of dispossession of the people in the National Park in Phetchaburi ... even to discuss these policies will now be lese majeste material. This move against Pravit is probably part of the same 'campaign' to use a martial term. It is the seemingtly endless war of the Royal Ammaat/Royal Thai Army against the Thai people.

If this campaign is 'successful' ALL government policies will undoubtedly become Royal Polices ... invulnerably, unmentionably, unthinkable. Just as in North Korea.

PPT observes that Suthep has apparently now charged Tharit and the DSI with lese majeste. While Suthep was pulling Tharit's strings, lo, Tharit sang and danced one way;

Regarding the lese majeste case of Mr Jatuporn, Mr Suthep said the DSI had proceeded with the case to such an extent that the Criminal Court had withdrawn Mr Jatuporn's bail.

but now that Suthep is gone Tharit is dancing at the end of the strings of another, singing and dancing another tune.

However, on May 10 this year, Mr Tarit announced the case would be dismissed.

So, now it's a crime not to continue to persecute those previously selected for persecution?

Mr Suthep said the decision affected the honour of the royal institution.

What affects the honor of the royal institution is its being used as a fetish by the Royal Thai Army, the Ammat, the Privy Council, by Suthep, Tharit, Yingluk and all the other Thai politicians ... and the Bangkok Post.

Pravit is a closet Thaksinite - another habitual liar attempting to separate UDD from Thaksin for the sake of maintaining some semblance of legitimacy - even neglected in his coverage of the "great" anniversary at Ratchaprasong to mention "Dear Leader's" phone-in.

You'd almost have thought the UDD talked about 112 and democracy the whole time if you only read Pravit's version of the day's events. How do you forget to mention the call-in when the entire rally was centered around the giant tv screen Thaksin appeared upon? I chalk it up to duplicity & manipulative reportage.

Pravit at the very least should be unemployed as a journalist - his swipe at his own nation's institutions at a time they are being targeted by foreign interests does smack of treason. So does his constant contributions to Prachatai whom he knows if funded by a foreign government with the expressed interest of destabilizing Thailand and reinstalling their puppet of choice, Thaksin Shinawatra.

When an extremist like TC talks about treason, you have to think he's lost his marbles. But, no, TC regularly peddles such fantastic lies and accusations that one wonders if he ever had any marbles.

Not that his comment has anything much to do with the topic, but maybe TC lives some of his time in Roi-et and dribbles about LM conspiracies and gives them to other loonies like Wiput Sukprasert.

Anyone who can read Pravit's articles and see that LM accusations are the work of pathetic crazies.

To then conjure up a completely facile accusation of treason is beneath contempt.
