Alleged NorporchorUSA webmaster asks to be removed from prison zone for serious criminals

The man arrested on allegations of being the webmaster of an anti-monarchy website NorporchorUSA wants to be transferred from a prison zone for convicts of serious crimes.

On 28 April, Thanthawut Thaweewarodomkul, who has been detained at the Bangkok Remand Prison and reportedly assaulted by inmates, said that the situation had improved with closer supervision by wardens. However, as he was only a defendant, he should have been kept in a zone for the people on remand, not in Zone 8 for serious convicts.

He also hoped to be granted bail so that he could look after his 8-year-old child who he cared for as a single parent and who was now being taken care of by his friend.

Thanthawut, 37, allegedly the webmaster of www.norporchorusa.com and www.norporchorusa2.com under the alias ‘Red Eagle’, was arrested on 1 April in Bangkok for offences under the lèse majesté law and the 2007 Computer Crimes Act.
