Research Coordinator for Vietnam

Mekong Energy and Ecology Network (MEE Net) invites applicants for a full time research coordinator in the MEE Net Coordinating Team beginning December 2009.

 

Mekong Energy and Ecology Network or MEE Net was established in 2008, as a sister organization of Towards Ecological Recovery and Regional Alliance (TERRA), under the legally registered Foundation for Ecological Recovery (FER). MEE Net has been working on an energy related ecology issue in the Mekong Region, especially the electricity structure, governance and policy reform towards sustainable energy and local community livelihood sustainability.

 

The successful candidate is responsible for coordinating a research team and conducting a research on power sector development policy (electricity) of Vietnam and the Mekong Region. The project’s first phase[1] lasts six months: December 2009 – May 2010. It can expand according to performance and progress of the team. Ideally, this position will be promoted to operate a long term project based in Vietnam.

 

Qualifications

· Engineering or Energy Study or Political Economics or Political Ecology

· The ideal candidate will have prior two-year experience in electricity planning or analysis.

· Fluency in English as working language

· Strong social and environmental concern

· Able to work/live in Thailand and in Vietnam.

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
