The story of embattled human rights activist Sombat Boonngam-anong, aka Nuling or the Polka Dot Editor, is now reaching the international media. Currently being persecuted by the Thai state in what has become an absolute military dictatorship due to General Prayut invoking Section 44 of the Interim Charter, Sombat is facing approximately five charges, including the possibility of lèse majesté (Section 112).

Bangkok’s Military Court dismissed a petition submitted by a prominent red-shirt figure questioning whether the jurisdiction of the military court over civilian cases violates the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).  

  Anti-coup red-shirt activist Sombat Boonngarm-anong has said on Twitter that he wishes to help the junta tackle drug problems, that reds and yellows are united behind bars and that he befriended the anti-red-shirt "popcorn gunman".    On Thursday, Sombat tweeted on twitter.com/nuling a series on his experience in prison and a series.

  Sombat Boonngamanong, a prominent red-shirt figure, on Friday morning said he wants to be part of the reconciliation process, asking his followers to be more subtle when showing their opposition to the junta.   About a hundred people visited the red-shirt leader at the Bangkok Remand Prison at 11 am on Friday.

  At approximately 9.30 pm on 5 June, Sombat Boonngamanong was seized in Phan Thong district in Chonburi province. The team that seized him was composed of officers from the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) working with members of the 21st Army Infantry Regiment.   The National Intelligence Agency located him by tracing his IP address.    In the event of arrest, he left this pre-recorded message to be circulated on social media and YouTube.
