In May 2023, a man arrested for alleged involvement in the October 2013 ATM bombings in Yala and Pattani was released After serving nine years and six months in prison. However, two days before his release, the Songkhla prosecutor filed for a court order to place him under special preventive measures based on a law designed to control the behaviours of ex-criminal who commit sexual or violent offences. Ahead of the court ruling on 4 October, Hara Shintaro asks whether it is appropriate for such a law to be applied to suspects in security cases in an area where several special security laws are already being enforced.

<p><br />The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) issued a 37th announcement, granting authority to the Army Court to prosecute all crimes in violation of Article 107-112 of the Criminal Code, or the crimes against the monarchy including Thailand's lese majeste law. Crimes regarding national security and sedition as stipulated in Article 113-118 of the Criminal Code will also be prosecuted by the Military Court. </p>
<p>After the cabinet meeting on 18 Oct, Minister of Culture Sukumol Kunplome told reporters that the cabinet had approved amendments to the 2007 Print Registration Act as proposed by the Ministry.</p>
<p>On 12 January 2010, the Thai News Agency reported that the Prime Minister ordered the establishment of an Advisory Committee on National Security Cases Involving the Monarchy, with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice as chair. The Committee has the responsibility of advising the police, DSI and ICT Ministry on the careful, appropriate and fair conduct of lèse majesté cases</p>
