Sex Work Art Exhibit official opening (exhibit is open for viewing from 3:00PM)

Discrimination and stigma have an impact on the lives of sex workers and their families in all ASEAN countries.

All countries of ASEAN criminalize some aspects of sex work. Punitive laws, policies and law enforcement practices affect the rights of sex workers and their access to HIV prevention, treatment care and support. Moreover, sex workers are often denied other health services, access to justice and their labor rights are not recognized.

Sex workers and sex worker organizations from countries in the ASEAN region and Timor Leste have created art pieces to change the common perceptions of this community through the universal  language of art.

This exhibition is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and organized by Empower, a Thai based Foundation promoting the rights of sex workers.
